3 Impacts of Social Justice to Society

Social justice is usually very crucial in any society. It upholds equal access to health, wealth, justice, and opportunity in a community setting. For any society to grow economically and politically, there should be a keen observance of social justice. If there is something we are sure about is that social injustice is a burden on our societies. This has continued to derail our social developments in all sorts of manner. Also, lots of social issues such as poverty, unemployment, poor health, among others, are perpetuated by social injustice. Therefore, the following are 3 notable impacts that social justice contributes to our societies.

1. Equally distributed Resources

One of the most significant impacts of social justice within a society is the equal distribution of resources. Through social justice, every individual within the community is regarded as equal. Therefore, they are entitled to equal opportunities and access to resources. A society that uses social justice principles often treat its members fairly and impartial manner.

Social justice also envisions a society with actors who have a sense of social responsibility towards others and society as a whole.

On the other side, the absence of social justice in a society contributes to oppression, racism, and other forms of social discrimination.

2. Reduced Violence and crime rates

Social justice is one of the most effective solutions for reducing crime. It acts as a lens through which society obtains a distributive justice. Distributive justice helps to uphold and fairly guarantees human rights and dignity. Peaceful coexistence is usually a characteristic of a just society. Here, people‚Äôs needs are met, stress reduced, and crime rates are low. A society that does not recognize or acknowledge the need for social justice can naturally lead to resentment, hostility, or even worse.

Also, if society lacks social justice, people are more likely to engage in antisocial behaviors. Lack of social justice leads to the disproportionate distribution of resources. In such cases, one social group will have a higher standard of living while the other group is experiencing low standards of living. This includes a lack of basic needs, among others. When poverty strikes in, society stands a high chance of suffering from the social breakdown forces such as drug abuse, illiteracy, robbery, among others.

3. Improved economy

Social justice also improves the economic status of society. It paves the way for economic growth. When social justice is administered especially in marginalized societies, it can experience the benefits of social justice. Besides, social justice addresses some of the political pressure and economic policies that affect the economy of a place. It ensures the creation of social security institutions that facilitates structural and infrastructural transformation. Moreover, this creates more equal job opportunities and wealth distribution.

Conclusively, social justice is a concept in which people receive fair and just treatment without discrimination. Social justice is very crucial as it impacts positively on the community. For instance, it leads to equitable distribution of resources, reduces societal crimes, and improves the economy.
